Ngomfi was built to be the primary residence for an active retired couple.
Set on a dramatically sloping site that drops to a fast flowing river some 30 meters below, the house is inserted into the hillside over five levels. The villa is entered from the top via a private road that opens into a large gravel court dominated by a vast reflecting pool.
The house is really an exercise in landscape. Mature trees were maintained and help provide much-needed shade. Accommodation is grouped around a series of garden courtyards which provide ventilation and double aspect for its living areas. The rooms form a series of terraces which traverse the steep site whilst their roofs provide landscape and terraces for the rooms above.
