Design Phase : Phase I = 2004-2006 | Phase II = 2012-2016
Status : Complish Project
This modest home in a middle class suburb of Bali’s capital, the property originally was attached to an existing (rented) house which was extensively renovated and remodeled. Later, the old house was agreed to be outdated and found to be riddled with termites and the owners agreed to lease the property for a sufficiently long term to allow the current occupants to demolish and undertaken a new building on the site which connects seamlessly to the 2004 project as one might expect. The plot sizes are small (each being 300sqm) and so we elected to take the gardens up through the house itself – a series of terraces offering discrete spaces for relaxation and enjoyment culminate in a full developed roof garden planted with herbs and vegatables. On a clear day these offer views of the Volcanoes that make up Bali’s interior and the sea shore just a few miles to the east.
