Celadon Villa
Koh Samui, Thailand

Design Phase : 2010
Status              : Completed – 2012

Holiday home for a Provence-based English family on Koh Samui’s west coast. This villa was designed for a client who wanted dramatic sea views- close to the sea but at an altitude. The site is extremely steep, situated 100 meters above Bang Por Beach and 300 meters from the sea, offering panoramic views to the marine park and the neighbouring islands of Koh Phanyang and Koh Tao.

The design responds to local planning laws (which stipulate that a designated percentage of the accommodation must be under a pitched roof) by proposing a fabric roof made from PTFE; a first then in Thailand.

The pool wraps around two sides of the open living space allowing maximum appreciation of the views. Wherever possible mature trees are maintained and terraces formed on the roofs of rooms on the lower floors in contrast to the sloping site.
