Design Phase : 2008
Borey Nagara was a major master plan for a seven hectare site in downtown Siem Reap, close to the famed Angkor archaeological site in the Kingdom of Cambodia.
Located on the main exit route from Angkor to Siem Reap, the main vehicular access routes were to be made one way due to increased traffic to and from the archaeological park. In essence, this was a proposal for a second city centre to help relieve pressure on the congested market square of what was formerly a sleepy country town.
The design includes provision and proposals for a number of cultural and commercial buildings which include a theatre for 1500 persons, an arts centre with 21.485 square metres of exhibition space, three and five star hotels, free standing conference facilities, a condominium of 30 units, a night market, a supermarket and 35000 square metres of commercial retail and office space.
