Multi-award winning architect Gary Fell was educated in London at UCL’s prestigious Bartlett school of Architecture, completing his post graduate studies in 1994. Whilst still a post graduate student, Gary and a talented team of students were shortlisted for the Cardiff Opera House competition alongside such luminaries as Zaha Hadid, Norman Foster and Rem Koolhaas.
Gary originally came to Bali in 1996 to work on the Four Seasons Sayan project, and founded GFAB in 1999. Operations were initially kick-started with projects for private houses in Melbourne Australia and invitations to undertake projects in Cambodia and Thailand soon followed. Since then GFAB has grown into an internationally acclaimed business winning multiple awards including Bloomberg Google (World’s) “Best Architecture- Multiple Residence” (for Istana Phuket, 2011) and Asia Pacific (same category, for Samujana in Koh Samui, 2013).
Today, the GFAB studio is still headquartered in Bali, Indonesia, and employs 35 staff. GFAB offers a wide suite of services including architectural design, interior design and master planning.
GFAB’s projects typically are concentrated in the resorts / hotels, condominiums, private residences and estate type communities (with the occasional sortie into institutional and educational buildings).
At present GFAB have active projects throughout Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, India, Indonesia and Australia, along with commissions in Africa and the Caribbean.
